Election to the DPRK NDC chairmanship,

succession to the cause of arms

 Leader Kim Jong Il opened a new turn in establishing the leadership system of the Workers’ Party of Korea in the Korean People’s Army and in implementing the military line of the Party in the 1960s. He made a new milestone for the building the army of Juche type by putting forth the program of modeling the army on the Juche idea and slogan of devotedly defending the leader in the 1970s. He trained the KPA into an invincible army of Mt. Baekdu in the 1980s and 1990s, performing conspicuous contributions to carry out the cause of Juche revolution.

He enjoyed boundless trust, respect and support from the Party, army and people as he demonstrated the authority of the peerless iron-willed brilliant commander, by leading the confrontation against the US to victory for three decades and strengthening the revolutionary forces of Korea.

Recollecting protracted and arduous path of the Korean revolution President Kim Il Sung said to the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, senior officials of the army, Party and state about Kim Jong Il’s disposition and personality of military commander. He said that Comrade Kim Jong Il is a general of Mt. Baekdu type endowed with spirit of Mt. Baekdu and temper who was born in Mt. Baekdu, hearing the report of gun, he is a skillful strategist who learnt military tactics at the operational table during the Fatherland Liberation War, his organizational ability is quite admirable seeing the fact that he has strengthened the army into a match-for-a-hundred force and revolutionary force of the Party. Comrade Kim Jong Il makes the enemy shudder with sure confidence in victory and wise tactics whatever the situation is tense. He has an indomitable will and courage, predominant strategy and commanding art as the supreme commander of the revolutionary armed force and herein lies guarantee for the continuous development and victory of the revolutionary armed force, I am very proud of having another General Kim Jong Il in our country the President said.          

President Kim Il Sung emphasized at different meetings including the meetings of the KPA officers and political officials in about 10 occasions between 1992 to 1993 that Comrade Kim Jong Il is a brilliant commander born of Heaven who has outstanding idea, uncommon brain, rare wisdom and strategy, strong faith and will and matchless courage and pluck and benevolence on the highest level. 

The western media including the “Washington Times” and CNN TV when they visited north Korea asked the President the role of Kim Jong Il at present and the future concentrating their attention on the fact that he takes greater responsibility. The President said that Kim Jong Il led the affairs of the Party, state and army from long ago. He said in full of confidence that now all the affairs go smoothly and will achieve success in the future in the country as leader Kim Jong Il, who has personality and disposition suitable for a people’s leader, brilliantly inherits the idea and leadership of the President.

President Kim Il Sung proposed leader Kim Jong Il for chairmanship of the NDC at the 5^th Session of the 9^th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK on April 9, 1993. Kim Jong Il, Supreme Commander of the KPA, was elected chairman of the NDC by enthusiastic support of the participants.  

The election of leader Kim Jong Il on the highest position of the DPRK is a manifestation of the Korean servicemen and people’s absolute support and trust in him. It has great significance in inheriting the Songun cause of Juche pioneered by President Kim Il Sung and in developing the revolutionary cause of Juche on a higher stage.     

Leader Kim Jong Il consolidated north Korea into a political and military power by enriching the Songun politics and opening a new chapter of the Songun revolutionary leadership.. 

Now north Korea led by leader Kim Jong Il is highlighted as a citadel of global independence and socialist cause and a model of anti-imperialism and anti-US
